Pepin, Wisconsin is the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder. In town is a Laura Ingalls Wilder Park, and a museum. Seven miles northwest is the "Little House Wayside" with a cabin restoration of Laura's 1867 birthplace.

It is just a simple one room cabin on the prairie. But the prairie with it’s open skies, seemingly endless horizon and tall grasses waving in the Kansas wind attracted homesteaders from all over the world. In Walnut Grove, Minnesota you'll find the Wilder Museum and two miles north is the Ingalls home site and dugout-remains along Plum Creek. The Ingalls-based pageant "Fragments of a Dream" is performed open-air in the month of July.

Burr Oak, Iowa is not featured in the "Little House" series however it was home to the Ingalls from 1876 through 1877. The restored Masters Hotel, where the family lived, is open

De Smet, South Dakota was home to Laura from 1879 to 1894. It was the final stopping place for her family. Visitors can see 17 sites mentioned in her books, including the Ingalls Home and Surveyors' House.

Rocky Ridge Farm near Mansfield, Missouri was the home of Laura, Almanzo and Rose Wilder. The house and museum next to it contains almost everything the Wilders owned and used.
