Prior to the Laura Contest, contestants should read both of the following books to prepare for questions that will be asked during the contest.

THREE CONTESTANT CATEGORIES:
8-9 years old
10-11 years old
12-14 years old

(Contestants will be assigned to their category based on their age on day of contest)

LAURA CONTEST GUIDELINES

REGISTRATION

Contestants may preregister online with the form below.
Registrations will be accepted the day of the contest at the Laura Days Information Booth.
Please review the Day Of Contest Guidelines below to prepare for registration.

DAY OF CONTEST

  1. Each contest will report to the Laura Contest picnic shelter on the day of the contest and will receive a stick-on name badge that includes their age category
  2. Contestants will then answer 12 multiple-choice questions at the Registration table. The answers to these questions will be a component of the judging criteria (see below). Questions are based on the books Little House in the Big Woods & Little House on the Prairie.
  3. Contestants must be present to the Main stage 15 minutes prior to the start of the contest.
  4. Contestants will be seated on the stage and called to the microphone to verbally answer 2 questions based on the 2 books (Little House in the Big Woods & Little House on the Prairie)
  5. Each contestant on stage will receive a gift bag
  6. Between age categories, judges will tabulate points earned by each contestant in the previous category.
  7. MOST IMPORTANT – HAVE A TON OF FUN celebrating Laura!
